HDCC Launches Innovative New Hybrid Programme
The 2021-2022 season at Hertford and District Camera Club starts on 10 September, and we can’t wait to be back in St John’s Hall after 18 months away. But this season – our seventieth – will be different. Following the successful operation of our enforced online meetings during lockdown we plan to meet both in our Hall and online this season, on alternate weeks.
With half our meetings online we can now welcome members and visitors from outside our local area. We will continue to operate our popular Visitor system for many single meetings, but we have introduced a new formal Online Member category for those wishing to attend all the online meetings, with the opportunity to enter our Digital Image competitions.
A broader agenda
Much as we love our face-to-face meetings and the ability to socialise properly in the hall, online meetings give the club extensive access to guest speakers and judges from across the UK and abroad. We believe our hybrid programme will give us the best of both worlds, combining our excellent local presenters and judges – many of them old friends of the club – with different styles, opinions and specialities from further afield.
In parallel with stimulating and instructive lectures, the practical and constructive comments from the experienced visiting judges on competition evenings help us all to improve our photography. All the digital image competitions this season will be judged online.
